Bengaluru, (Karnataka) [India], January 31, 2026: GreenJams, India’s pioneering bio-concrete innovator, has achieved a major global milestone with its flagship product Agrocrete® being awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label — making it India’s only carbon-negative building material to receive this internationally recognised distinction for environmental and economic excellence.
Founded by explorer and clean-tech visionary Dr. Bertrand Piccard, the Solar Impulse Foundation grants the Label to solutions that successfully combine sustainability with profitability. Each selected technology undergoes a rigorous multi-expert assessment covering feasibility, environmental impact, and commercial viability, independently audited by EY.
Agrocrete® — a patented carbon-negative bio-concrete made from agricultural residues, industrial by-products, and GreenJams’ proprietary alkali-activated binder — replaces conventional concrete and brickwork while offering 3.5× higher thermal insulation, 2.5x faster construction and superior durability. Furthermore, every ton of Agrocrete® locks away approximately 140 kg of CO₂, effectively reversing emissions from the construction process.

With this achievement, GreenJams joins a select group of global building-material leaders — including Holcim, Saint-Gobain, CEMEX, and Gresmalt — who have also been recognised by the Foundation for their pioneering climate-positive innovations.
To date, GreenJams has deployed Agrocrete® across 21 commercial projects in India, capturing over 290 tonnes of CO₂, avoiding 880 tonnes of emissions, and delivering nearly 2,000 m³ of structural bio-concrete.
This recognition reinforces GreenJams’ mission to make buildings agents of climate-change reversal, combining material science, circular design, and industrial scalability to redefine how the world builds.
GreenJams, a sustainable construction solutions company, has been granted a prestigious patent by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Republic of Indonesia, for its innovative invention titled “A Vegetal Concrete Masonry Unit and Method and System for Manufacture Thereof.”
This patented technology represents a significant advancement in sustainable construction materials, introducing a vegetal-based concrete masonry unit along with a defined method and system for its manufacture. The innovation aligns with global efforts to promote environmentally responsible building practices while enhancing performance and efficiency in construction.
